Macramè
Macramé is the art of knotting: no needles or hook, just your hands and a cord. On this page you find PDF patterns with the knots explained step by step: macramé bags and shoulder bags, plant hangers, wall panels and hangings, dream catchers, placemats and chargers, a hammock, decorations for Christmas and for a new baby. Many are free.
The right yarn is Macramore, the Lane Mondial recycled cotton cord that holds the knot and does not fray, in solid and mélange shades; for finer work there is Macramore Fine, for more structured pieces the Cordoncino. Each pattern tells you how many metres of cord you need.
Starting from scratch? Watch the videos of the basic knots (square knot, double half hitch, half knot) and begin with a plant hanger or a charger, both done in an afternoon. Macramé bags, net bags, fringed bags, shoulder bags, are the next step and are among the most searched patterns.
For the home: the placemat and the charger in Macramore (free), the wall panel, the hammock. For celebrations: little angels, trees and baubles for the Christmas tree, the birth bow.
